KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Our corporate leadership retreat aboard La Sukha Speed Boat redefined team connection. Away from emails and agendas, we bonded over shared sunrises and reef discoveries. Crystal Rock’s vibrant coral gardens and Taka Makassar’s surreal tides showcased nature’s precision. The boat’s compactness encouraged dialogue—no hiding in sprawling lounges. The crew balanced professionalism with warmth, serving espresso at dawn and local beers by dusk. The cabin, while functional, could benefit from blackout curtains. Still, La Sukha’s strength lies in agility and authenticity. We anchored where larger yachts can’t, accessing pristine sites like hidden coves off Castle Rock. For a retreat rooted in focus and wonder, she’s unmatched.

Sailing Komodo aboard La Sukha Speed Boat was like stepping into a living postcard. For my anniversary, we sought quiet romance—La Sukha provided it in spades. At Taka Makassar, we waded through shallows so clear, our legs appeared suspended in air. That night, the crew arranged a candlelit dinner on deck, serenaded by gentle waves. The single cabin, though compact, felt like a sanctuary—soft linens, ocean breezes, no distractions. The boat’s 2015 origins show in subtle wear, but never in service. A minor note: the fridge struggled to keep drinks icy in peak sun. But who needs cold beer when you have views like Castle Rock’s jagged cliffs and swirling currents? La Sukha is not about luxury for show—it’s about luxury of experience.

A única sugestão?

La Sukha Speed Boat offered a sanctuary unlike any I’ve known. For my 50th, I sought solitude and awe—Komodo delivered both. The stillness of Taka Makassar at sunrise, where water mirrors the sky, felt sacred. Later, Castle Rock’s dramatic currents brought exhilarating drift dives. The boat’s simplicity was its strength: polished teak, crisp linens, and a crew whose discretion bordered on psychic. My cabin, though compact, had panoramic windows that framed the sea like living art. Minor critique: the shower drain clogged once. But such is life on a working phinisi. What remains is the feeling—of being untethered, unburdened. La Sukha doesn’t impress with size, but with soul.

The La Sukha Speed Boat doesn’t shout. It doesn’t need to. From the moment we boarded, the balance of effort and ease was evident. We anchored at Bidadari Beach early, the sand still cool underfoot, and swam out to where the current gently pulled us along the reef’s edge. The boat’s phinisi lines are classic, and though she’s only 12 meters, the deck feels expansive because nothing is wasted. The crew, all Indonesian, moved with a quiet professionalism—adjusting sails not by routine but by feel. At Manta Point, they timed our drift perfectly. I floated above them, silent, as they circled below like ancient kites. My only note: the cabin’s ventilation could be stronger in still heat. But that’s a minor trade for such an uncluttered experience. This isn’t about opulence. It’s about presence.

La Sukha Speed Boat became our floating haven for four unforgettable days. Arriving from landlocked Regina, I was unprepared for Komodo’s drama. At Padar Island, the hike revealed three crescent bays in hues of emerald and sapphire—a view worth every drop of sweat. Snorkeling at Manta Point, I locked eyes with a manta that circled our group like a guardian. The boat’s intimacy fostered deep conversations under starlit skies. Though the 2015 interior lacks some modern luxuries, its authenticity charmed us. The single cabin was peaceful, with subtle nautical touches. One night, the generator cut out—briefly plunging us into silence. But in that darkness, with bioluminescence flickering in the wake, we found magic no amenity could replicate.

Nusa Kode.
