Athira Phinisi
Stillness That Lingers
I came to the Athira Phinisi seeking silence, and found it between Nusa Kode and Kalong Island, where the only sound was the wind in the sails. As a solo traveler recovering from a demanding project, I needed a space that didn’t demand performance. The boat delivered: no forced socialising, no over-programmed days. I spent hours on the upper deck with a book, or drifting above Komodo’s reefs with only the sound of my breath. The Master Suite’s blackout curtains ensured deep sleep, and the air conditioning was whisper-quiet. One evening, the staff set up a private dinner on the aft deck—grilled squid, local greens, a crisp Sancerre—without being prompted. It felt like being known, not serviced. My only note: the dive gear, while functional, showed signs of heavy use. But the safety checks were rigorous. This wasn’t escapism—it was recalibration.
Athira Phinisi:

Solitude in Komodo’s Embrace
Traveling solo, I hesitated about joining a group charter, but the Athira Phinisi struck the right balance between privacy and connection. At 25.7 meters, it’s large enough to feel stable in open water, yet intimate enough that the crew—led by a quietly competent captain from Sulawesi—remembered how I took my coffee. We spent a morning hiking Padar Island, the switchbacks steeper than expected, but the view from the top justified every breath. Later, a quiet snorkel off Pink Beach revealed parrotfish in neon clusters. I had the Master Suite, which opened directly onto the aft deck—perfect for early journaling with a thermos. The only thing I’d adjust? One more night in the bay near Komodo Island. The dragons are impressive, but the real magic was in the in-between moments: reading on deck as the wind shifted, or watching flying fish skitter ahead of the bow. This wasn’t escape. It was recalibration.

Intimate Celebration in Komodo
Tapi overall, the intimacy, the pacing, the attention — flawless. Athira Phinisi bukan sekadar kapal, tapi co-creator of memory.

Komodo’s Wild Heart, Refined
I’ve long been drawn to Komodo’s raw energy, but I wasn’t sure a luxury yacht could coexist with that spirit. The Athira Phinisi proved me wrong. Sailing into Loh Liang, we saw dragons basking on the shore—untamed, yet we observed from a respectful distance. The boat never felt like a disruption, more like a silent witness. We spent a morning at Pink Beach, walking the shore where the sand blushes rose-gold. Later, the crew laid out a cold seafood platter on the main deck—grilled prawns, lime, and chili—while we drifted near Nusa Kode. The Standard Cabin had excellent ventilation; I preferred the sea breeze to AC. My only note: the dive platform could be wider for tandem entries. But these are minor points. The Athira Phinisi offers access to Komodo’s essence without softening its edges.

Serene Escape to Pink Beach & Padar
The Athira Phinisi offered a refined balance of elegance and ease. Sailing with our family—two teens and my sister—we found the Master Suite spacious, with teak detailing that felt both modern and timeless. Mornings began with freshly cut pineapple and local coffee served on deck as we approached Pink Beach. The coral blush in the sand was even more striking at low tide, and the crew guided us to a quieter stretch where the kids could snorkel without crowds. Padar Island’s hike was challenging but worth it; the panoramic view over the three bays rivalled any in Southeast Asia. The yacht’s dive platform made gear transitions seamless, though the Wi-Fi was inconsistent past Batu Bolong—something to note for those needing connectivity. Dinner one night was arranged ashore on Kanawa, a thoughtful touch that broke the rhythm in the best way. The staff anticipated needs without hovering—a hallmark of true service. One additional day would have allowed a slower pace, particularly around Wae Rebo, where cultural immersion felt brief. Still, the craftsmanship of the boat, from sail rigging to the hand-carved railings, stood out. Our children, usually restless on boats, were captivated by the rhythm of life aboard.
