Gentle Rhythms for New Beginnings
My husband and I boarded the Catnazse Liveboard two months into my pregnancy, seeking calm and connection. The babymoon itinerary was perfectly paced—long enough to unwind, short enough to avoid fatigue. We spent a morning at Gili Lawa, where the coral slopes teem with anthias and clownfish. I snorkeled slowly, guided by a crew member who matched my pace. Back on board, the open-air lounge became our reading nook, shaded by a linen canopy. The Master Suite’s king bed faced a panoramic window—waking to the sight of anchored islets felt like living inside a painting. Meals were light and inventive: jackfruit rendang, tamarind-poached papaya, turmeric lattes. One evening, a brief power flicker interrupted the documentary screening—quickly resolved, but it reminded us we were on a working vessel, not a floating hotel. That authenticity was part of the charm. At Long Beach, we watched the tide expose a vast sandbank—walking it at dusk, we saw nothing but terns and our own footprints. For a babymoon, Catnazse offered sanctuary with soul.

Solitude and Depth in Komodo
As a solo traveler with a decade of dive expeditions under my belt, I approached the Catnazse Liveboard with high expectations — and left quietly astonished. The rhythm of the voyage, from the quiet hum of the engine at dawn to the lantern-lit dinners under stars unspoiled by light pollution, felt almost monastic in its clarity. We spent a full morning at Bidadari Beach, where the shallows shimmered with electric-blue starfish. The dive at Crystal Rock was equally mesmerising — a wall dive that dropped into sapphire nothingness, patrolled by eagle rays like sentinels. The boat’s design, all warm wood and clean lines, avoids the gaudiness some luxury yachts embrace. My cabin, though not the Master Suite, had ample space and a cleverly placed porthole that framed passing turtles like living art. The crew’s attention to detail was flawless: post-dive, chilled towels and infused water awaited without being asked. I did wish for a slightly longer stop at Loh Liang — the komodo dragon sighting was brief, and the boardwalk felt crowded. But that’s a limit of the park, not the vessel. The chef, trained in Bali, brought subtle Southeast Asian notes to every course — a coconut-miso broth that haunted me days after. This was less a holiday, more a recalibration.

A Birthday Escape Beyond Expectation
My 40th birthday called for something extraordinary, and the Catnazse Liveboard delivered with quiet elegance. Sailing into Bidadari Beach at sunrise, the water shifted from indigo to opal — it felt like we had the entire Komodo archipelago to ourselves. As a solo traveler joining a curated dive group, I was initially unsure how the dynamic would feel, but the balance of privacy and camaraderie aboard was impeccable. The Master Suite offered deep quiet and a perfectly framed ocean view, ideal for morning coffee in solitude. Snorkeling at Crystal Rock revealed mantas gliding beneath us like shadows in moonlight — a moment that still hums in my memory. The crew anticipated needs without intrusion, though I’ll admit the Wi-Fi was spotty past Gili Lawa; not a flaw, perhaps, but a gentle nudge toward digital detox. I wished we’d spent an extra half-day at Manjarite, where the current teased out reef sharks with theatrical flair. The food — seared tuna with local citrus, flame-grilled reef fish — was understated but precise, never overwhelming the setting. This wasn’t luxury as spectacle, but as seamlessness: the right temperature towel after a dive, the espresso served just as the sun dipped below Loh Liang’s treeline. A rare vessel that understands presence over performance.

The Rhythm of Komodo, Perfectly Paced
We joined the Catnazse Liveboard for a post-wedding babymoon, needing stillness after months of planning. From the moment we stepped aboard in Labuan Bajo, the pace softened. The Standard Cabin, though not the largest, felt spacious with its high ceilings and cross-breeze design—no AC needed at night. Kalong Island at dusk was a revelation: thousands of flying foxes spiraling into the mangroves as the sky turned indigo. I’ll remember that silence, broken only by flapping wings and the occasional splash. The crew arranged a sunrise paddleboard session at Crystal Rock—just us, the glassy surface, and the reef below. It felt private, almost sacred. One night, the captain anchored near Wae Rebo so we could glimpse the village from afar, respecting its sanctity. That gesture spoke volumes about the ethos onboard. The only thing I’d tweak? More vegan breakfast options—but they improvised well with local fruit and turmeric lattes. This wasn’t just a trip; it was a recalibration. And the linen robes in the en suite? Impeccable.

Family Harmony, Found at Sea
Organizing a family trip with three generations is never simple, but the Catnazse Liveboard made it feel effortless. The eight cabins gave everyone space, and the open-air dining deck became our daily gathering point. We started at Pink Beach, where the shallows allowed my 82-year-old mother to wade safely while the grandkids snorkeled over the reef. The crew provided a floating dock and shaded umbrella—small touches, perfectly timed. At Manta Point, even she felt comfortable watching from the boat as the mantas circled below. One evening, we anchored near Wae Rebo, and the cultural officer shared stories of the village’s cosmology over spiced tea. It was handled with reverence, not performance. The boat’s 2021 build shows in the smooth transitions—no creaks, no vibrations. I did notice the Wi-Fi struggled beyond basic email, but we adapted. By the final night, anchored in a cove near Taka Makassar, we were all reluctant to return to signal. This wasn’t just a vacation—it was a reunion recalibrated by tides.

Loh Liang & Komodo Dragon Encounter
Aku sempat rekam video close-up, sangat intense.
