Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Nusa Kembara. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t a party boat. Nusa Kembara caters to those who understand that silence can be more luxurious than music. My partner and I booked for our honeymoon, seeking stillness more than spectacle. We found both. At Gili Lawa, we kayaked at first light, the water so clear we could see parrotfish grazing ten feet below. The suite had sliding doors that opened directly to the sea, and we woke to the sound of gentle lap against the hull. The staff never overstepped—meals were timed to our rhythm, not a rigid schedule. One note: the sunscreen dispensers in the bathrooms ran dry mid-trip. Not a crisis, but worth noting. Otherwise, perfection.

Luxury that shouts is no luxury at all. Nusa Kembara understands this. As a photographer, I’m attuned to detail—the way light falls, how space is used. The lower deck cabins are compact but brilliantly designed; no wasted motion, everything within reach. We spent a morning at Pink Beach, capturing the gradient of sand from blush to coral. The crew provided cold drinks and shade without being asked. Later, at Batu Bolong, the visibility was beyond expectation—sharks, turtles, schools like liquid mercury. The boat’s tender was reliable, crewed by men who knew the tides like their own breath. Only thought: offering reef-safe sunscreen in larger dispensers would help reduce single-use plastics. Otherwise, impeccable.

Setelah dua minggu conference di Jakarta, aku butuh reset. Nusa Kembara jadi sanctuary-ku. Makanannya sehat tapi flavorful, banyak pilihan plant-based.

In a world of curated experiences, Nusa Kembara offers something rare: authenticity with comfort. We joined as a friends getaway—five couples, varying ages, all seasoned travelers. The layout allowed privacy when wanted, connection when chosen. At Kalong Island, we took the skiff ashore briefly, then returned to the yacht to watch the bat exodus from the sundeck with gin and tonic in hand. The galley surprised us nightly—Indonesian flavors refined, not diluted. One evening featured a spiced jackfruit curry that lingered in conversation for days. My only critique: the Bluetooth speaker in the main salon had limited range. But honestly, we barely used it. The sea provided better soundtrack.

I’ve chartered in the Andamans and the Phi Phi archipelago, but Nusa Kembara stands apart. It’s not just the 2022 build—though the engineering hums with quiet competence—but the way the staff anticipates need without hovering. We came as a friends getaway, six of us spanning three time zones, and the common saloon became our sanctuary. Days were spent hiking Padar Island at golden hour, the three-tone sands glowing like embers. Back onboard, cold towels and cucumber-infused water waited without us asking. The master suite forward is perfectly balanced—no engine noise, just the slap of gentle swell. I’d have liked a longer stop at Crystal Rock; we barely scratched the wall’s vertical life. But that’s on us, not the boat.
