Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Arimbi Liveaboard. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Arimbi Liveaboard proved ideal for our dive-focused group—compact, professional, and deeply knowledgeable. Batu Bolong’s drift dive delivered schooling trevally and a reef manta on the outer slope. We explored the walls near Nusa Kode, where blacktip sharks patrolled the drop-off. The dive guide adjusted sites based on conditions, a sign of experience. The Standard Cabin was modest but clean, with excellent natural light. Hot water was inconsistent, but after a deep dive, even a cool rinse felt refreshing. One highlight: a spontaneous stop at Manjarite, where we swam through a narrow channel flanked by mangroves. The boat’s 2018 build ensures reliability, though the saloon’s seating could be plusher. Still, when the alternative is Komodo’s raw beauty, comfort becomes secondary.

Escaping the city’s pace, Arimbi Liveaboard offered a tonic of silence and sea. Our days unfolded gently: breakfast on deck after a still swim off Bidadari Beach, snorkelling above Sebayur’s coral bommies, afternoon tea as we sailed toward Gili Lawa. The Master Suite’s louvred windows caught every breeze—no need for AC. The staff remembered my preference for green tea without being told twice. I appreciated the lack of orchestrated activities; we chose our rhythm. One morning, we spotted a komodo dragon swimming between islets near Nusa Kode—a rare sight. The boat’s 2018 build shows in its quiet elegance, though the Wi-Fi, as expected, was more dream than reality. But when the alternative is watching the sunset bleed into the Flores Sea, who’s complaining?
