Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Ciela Liveaboard. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Celebrating our tenth anniversary aboard Ciela Liveaboard was one of the most intentional decisions we’ve made. The Master Suite’s sliding doors opened directly to the sea, and we woke each morning to the sound of water lapping against the hull. Snorkeling at Long Beach revealed a kaleidoscope of anthias and clownfish weaving through soft coral. One afternoon, the captain arranged a private beach landing on Komodo Island, followed by champagne on the bow as the sun dipped below the horizon. The staff remembered our coffee preferences by day two—a small detail, but one that spoke volumes. The only limitation was cabin storage; a larger wardrobe would help for extended trips.

Ciela Liveaboard struck the perfect balance between adventure and ease. As someone who usually plans every detail, it was a relief to surrender to the crew’s quiet expertise. We began at Long Beach, where the sand stretches for kilometers and the water stays shallow for miles—ideal for swimming with the kids. Later, we anchored near Gili Lawa and snorkeled over coral gardens teeming with parrotfish and turtles. The boat’s design impressed me—every door closed softly, every rail felt solid underhand. The Master Suite had a private nook perfect for morning coffee. My only minor critique: the air conditioning in my cabin cycled a bit noisily at night. But it was manageable. What stayed with me was the crew’s calm presence. They weren’t performers; they were stewards. By the time we reached Sebayur Island, we felt less like guests and more like part of the journey.

Joining a corporate retreat on Ciela Liveaboard was a treat. The boat’s compact size—just four cabins—meant we built real rapport quickly. We anchored at Long Beach and Padar Island, both offering pristine waters and quiet coves for team swims. The Master Suite I shared with a colleague had twin beds spaced well apart, a rarity on yachts. Work sessions on deck were productive—the Wi-Fi was weak, but we used it as an excuse to unplug. The crew served fresh coconut water after hikes, never overloading the schedule. One afternoon, the tender was delayed due to tide levels at Pink Beach, but the captain offered an impromptu snorkel stop that turned out better than the original plan. That adaptability was telling. Ciela doesn’t rely on rigid itineraries. It flows with the sea, and in doing so, creates space for real connection.

Sailing aboard the Ciela Liveaboard felt less like a trip and more like a private maritime retreat. As a solo traveler, I appreciated the balance of attentive service and unobtrusive space. The Master Suite offered deep storage and a proper wardrobe—rare on yachts this size. Our route included Pink Beach and Taka Makassar, both stunning, though Taka’s afternoon winds made snorkeling slightly choppy. The crew anticipated needs without hovering; breakfast was always timed to sunrise, which at Long Beach painted the cliffs in molten gold. The only hiccup: Wi-Fi barely functioned past the first night, but honestly, I didn’t miss it. Ciela’s design—teak decks, linen-draped lounges—felt curated, not showy. I spent hours on the upper deck with a book and a tumbler of ginger tea, watching monitor lizards dart across Padar Island’s slopes. This wasn’t luxury for spectacle’s sake, but for serenity. I’d return in a heartbeat, perhaps with a friend in tow.

Our honeymoon on Ciela Liveaboard was understated perfection. Arriving from Tennessee, we craved intimacy without isolation. The Master Suite’s sliding doors opened directly to a private deck—morning coffee there, with Padar Island in the haze, was a ritual we’ll never forget. The itinerary included Pink Beach and Gili Lawa, both offering moments of quiet wonder. Snorkeling at Gili Lawa, we spotted a manta gliding beneath us, so close I could see the pattern on its back. The crew celebrated our wedding with a small cake and a bottle of champagne, no fuss, just warmth. One evening, the generator failed briefly—lights flickered for ten minutes—but the engineer had it sorted before dessert arrived. That’s the kind of competence that builds trust. Ciela doesn’t rely on theatrics. It offers presence: of place, of peace, of partnership. Exactly what we needed.

Taking our three children—ages 8, 10, 13—on Ciela Liveaboard was a leap of faith. It paid off beyond expectation. The crew had a quiet genius for keeping kids engaged without spoiling the serenity. On Sebayur Island, they set up a natural scavenger hunt—shells, driftwood patterns, bird calls. The older two snorkeled at Gili Lawa and saw reef sharks, which they still talk about. The Master Suite was roomy enough for me and my husband to have space, while the connecting cabin worked perfectly for the kids. Meals were served family-style, which encouraged conversation. I appreciated that the boat didn’t try to be a resort—it was a vessel for discovery. One night, anchored off Long Beach, we saw bioluminescence while swimming. No one spoke. Just awe. Only critique: limited charging ports in cabins. But we adapted. And honestly, less screen time was probably the point.
