KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

I joined a dive group charter aboard the Cirox 2 Phinisi, drawn by reports of liveaboard comfort without sacrificing access. We covered Wae Rebo’s highlands early—more of a cultural stop, but the village elder’s storytelling was magnetic—before returning to the sea for drift dives at Kanawa Island. The yacht’s size allowed us to avoid the larger crowds. Technical dive support was excellent: tanks refilled promptly, and the compressor ran quietly below decks. My cabin, adjacent to the engine room, had no transmission noise—a testament to insulation. The dive deck layout maximised space; no one was ever in anyone’s way. Meals were balanced—lots of fresh fish, greens that stayed crisp. One observation: the tender could’ve been a bit stiffer in chop, but safety briefings were thorough. The master suite, occupied by a couple on board, looked superb—private foredeck access, I noticed during sunset drinks. At night, under a full moon, the sails were raised briefly, though she’s primarily motor-powered. It was poetic, not performative. Exactly four days, but I’d gladly add two more.

Our multi-generational group—grandparents, parents, two toddlers—needed patience and flexibility. The Cirox 2 Phinisi delivered both. We anchored near Kanawa Island for two days, letting the little ones splash in calm shallows while elders napped in shaded loungers. One morning, we hiked Padar Island at a gentle pace, the crew carrying water and snacks like silent attendants. The yacht’s 24.8-meter length meant we never felt on top of each other. The galley produced dishes that pleased every palate—steamed fish for the grandparents, sweet potato mash for the toddlers. My only note? The sun loungers could use more back support for older guests. But watching my grandmother float in the sea off Pink Beach, supported by a crew member, was a moment I won’t forget. This vessel holds space for all kinds of joy.

This trip felt like a film scene. Very well-executed.

Saat dinner di Pink Beach dengan candlelight setup, I felt so spoiled in the best way. Cirox 2 Phinisi memang designed for intimacy—our honeymoon was low-key tapi tetap luxurious. The Master Suite has that perfect airflow, no need AC full time, which I appreciate for sustainability. Snorkeling di Crystal Rock? Visibility-nya insane, like swimming in an aquarium. Crew anticipating our needs before we even asked—only hiccup is the wifi di upper deck agak inconsistent, but honestly, who needs Instagram when you’re surrounded by this kind of beauty? We did a quick hike di Komodo Island juga, ranger-nya super informative. What stood out is how quiet the yacht at anchor—no engine noise, just waves. Perfect untuk quality time. Wish we booked for 5 nights instead of 4, would’ve loved to spend more time di Kalong Island saat sunset.

Snorkeling di Sebayur, I saw a small octopus changing color in real time — moment yang bikin napas terhenti. Crew tidak overbearing, tapi always there when needed. Responsible tourism in action.

Our wellness group sought stillness, and the Cirox 2 Phinisi delivered in quiet measure. Anchored at Taka Makassar, we practiced breathwork in the shallows, the sand so fine it felt like silk underfoot. The boat’s layout encouraged solitude when desired—a reading nook in the aft lounge, shaded deck chairs spaced for privacy. Each morning, herbal teas appeared at sunrise, brewed with lemongrass and pandan. The Standard Cabin I occupied was modest in size but rich in detail: hand-carved woodwork, soft linen, and blackout curtains that ensured deep sleep. We also visited Gili Lawa, where the coral reefs pulsed with life—huge Napoleon wrasse, parrotfish in neon hues. The only critique: the sound of the anchor chain in the early morning, though perhaps that’s just part of the maritime rhythm. This journey wasn’t about luxury for show, but for substance.
