        Destination Highlights

Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Pesona Bajo Phinisi. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.

        EVERY TERRITORY TELLS — A LEGEND ◈EVERY TERRITORY TELLS — A LEGEND ◈EVERY TERRITORY TELLS — A LEGEND ◈EVERY TERRITORY TELLS — A LEGEND ◈EVERY TERRITORY TELLS — A LEGEND ◈EVERY TERRITORY TELLS — A LEGEND ◈
        ◈

        KELOR ISLAND

Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.

        ◈

        MANJERITE

Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.

        ◈

        PADAR ISLAND

Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."

        ◈

        PINK BEACH

One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.

        ◈

        KOMODO ISLAND

Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom

        ◈

        TAKA MAKASSAR

A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.

        ◈

        MANTA POINT

A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.

        ◈

        GILI LAWA

Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.

        ◈

        SLABA ISLAND

Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.

        ◈

        SEBAYUR ISLAND

Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.

        ◈

        KANAWA ISLAND

While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.

        ◈

        SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)

Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.

        ◈

        BIDADARI ISLAND

Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Serene Escape in Komodo’s Hidden Corners

The Pesona Bajo Phinisi delivered a rare kind of quiet luxury — not performative, but deeply felt. We sailed during our babymoon, seeking stillness, and found it between Sebayur Island’s glassy coves and the untouched ridge of Padar. The crew anticipated needs without intrusion; mornings began with herbal tea on deck as the mist lifted off the water. Snorkelling at Manjarite revealed reefs pulsing with parrotfish and soft coral, vibrant in the late morning light. My only note: satellite Wi-Fi was spotty, though honestly, that may have been the point. The cabin design — teak finishes, high ceilings — felt more like a coastal villa than a yacht. One extra day would’ve eased the rhythm; four days was exquisite but fleeting. Still, the balance of curated solitude and seamless service made this more than a trip — it was a recalibration.

An Epic Dive Odyssey in Komodo

Our dive group chartered Pesona Bajo Phinisi for a week-long exploration of Komodo’s underwater realms—and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The dive team was professional, safety-conscious, and deeply familiar with local currents. Batu Bolong delivered strong drift dives with reef sharks and eagle rays; Manta Point offered graceful encounters with cleaning mantas. The yacht’s layout made gearing up and debriefing seamless, and hot water rinses for gear were a welcome luxury. Cabins were well-appointed, though sound insulation between rooms could be improved—late-night chatter carried slightly. Still, the comfort level after long dives was exceptional. Evenings were spent analyzing footage over craft cocktails and grilled local fish. The chef accommodated dietary needs without compromise. This was expedition diving, elevated by elegance and care. A benchmark for liveaboards.

Honeymoon in the Shadow of Komodo Dragons

We chose the Pesona Bajo Phinisi for its discretion — no Instagram-bait crowds, just Komodo as it was meant to be seen. Our honeymoon spanned Sebayur and Manta Point, both profoundly different. Sebayur offered silence, a crescent of white sand where we swam at dusk, illuminated by bioluminescence. At Manta Point, we hovered above the cleaning stations, watching those gentle giants glide within arm’s reach. The yacht’s attention to rhythm stood out — meals timed to tides, shaded lounging when the sun peaked. Our cabin, though compact, maximised space with clever joinery. I’d have liked a longer itinerary — five or six days — to properly unwind into the pace. But the crew’s calm professionalism, from the captain’s route choices to the steward who remembered how I took my coffee, made this feel less like a charter and more like being welcomed into a private world.

        Romance Rekindled on Komodo’s Shores

Pesona Bajo Phinisi was the perfect setting to celebrate our tenth anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the crew treated us like royalty—champagne, rose petals, a private dinner arranged on Kanawa Island. We spent days exploring hidden coves, snorkeling in waters so clear they looked filtered. At Manta Point, we held hands as a trio of mantas circled beneath us—an otherworldly moment. Back onboard, massages on the sundeck melted away every trace of city stress. The master suite was serene, with soft lighting and a vanity stocked with organic skincare. One night, we dined under a canopy of stars, the only sound the gentle lap of waves. The only minor flaw? The wine list, while curated, could offer more natural options. But the overall romance, attention, and beauty made this a journey we’ll never forget. Komodo, through this lens, is pure poetry.

        Reconnected Under Komodo’s Open Sky

As a wellness consultant, I’m selective about retreats. Pesona Bajo Phinisi exceeded every expectation. We anchored at Crystal Rock, where the morning yoga session on the foredeck—guided by a visiting instructor—was transcendent. The water’s clarity mirrored our inner stillness. Later, a breathwork session at sunset, floating gently in calm waters near Bidadari Beach, brought unexpected clarity. The yacht’s minimalist design, all natural fibers and open spaces, supported the intention of presence. The kitchen served vibrant, plant-forward meals—think jackfruit tartare and turmeric coconut broth—without sacrificing indulgence. My only suggestion? A small sound system on the sundeck for guided meditations. But the silence, really, was the point. The crew moved like whispers, respectful of our retreat’s rhythm. This was luxury not as excess, but as space—space to breathe, to listen, to remember. A rare gift.

        A Phinisi That Understands Silence

I’ve sailed several Indonesian phinisis, but the Pesona Bajo stands apart in its understanding of space and quiet. We anchored off Bidadari Beach, where the sandbars stretch for hundreds of metres at low tide — perfect for wading and long conversations. One evening, we dined ashore there, lanterns lit along the high-water line, the sound of the tide receding like breath. The yacht itself is a study in proportion: 23 meters feels generous, not sprawling. Our cabin had excellent storage, though the shower drain was slow. The crew, led by a captain with 20 years in the park, chose routes that avoided other boats — we had Padar’s summit trail to ourselves at sunrise. For those who value solitude over spectacle, who want the Komodo experience without the performance of it, this is a rare find. No frills, just depth.

Precision and Poetry on the Java Sea

As a marine biologist, I’m sensitive to how vessels interact with their environment. The Pesona Bajo Phinisi operates with a restraint I appreciate — anchor points carefully chosen, no motorised toys, crew trained in reef etiquette. We explored Manta Point at the ideal hour, when cleaning stations were active, and observed six mantas in one drift. Later, we anchored off Nusa Kode, where the cliffs frame a perfect half-moon bay. The yacht’s 2018 construction means modern systems without sacrificing the phinisi’s aesthetic — twin diesels are quiet, solar assists reduce load. Cabins are well-ventilated, though the fan-only option at night may challenge some. The galley served fresh tuna tartare with local lime, and the captain adjusted course slightly to avoid chop, prioritising comfort over schedule. This is luxury not as excess, but as consideration — every detail thought through, none overplayed.

Elegance Meets Wild Beauty in Komodo

We joined the Pesona Bajo Phinisi for a private photography expedition, and from the moment we stepped aboard, the balance of craftsmanship and understated luxury was evident. The teak decks, aged just enough to feel authentic, and the quiet efficiency of the crew made the 23-meter vessel feel both intimate and perfectly scaled. Our days were anchored between Komodo Island and Padar—each sunrise on Padar’s ridge, shot through with mist and soft light, was worth the pre-dawn climb. The crew timed our landings impeccably, ensuring we had the viewpoints to ourselves. Photographically, the clarity around Manjarite was exceptional; the coral walls drop off sharply, and with the yacht’s tender always at the ready, we could shoot both wide reefscapes and tighter macro in a single outing. The cabin layout allowed for quiet editing space, though I’d note the Wi-Fi is more symbolic than functional—fine for us, but perhaps a consideration for those needing connectivity. Dining was a quiet revelation: local snapper one night, seared with turmeric and torch ginger, the next morning fresh mango and lime from a passing fishing skiff. The staff anticipated rhythms without intrusion. If anything, four days felt compressed; we’d gladly have stayed another two, simply drifting between Nusa Kode and Long Beach, where the sand shifts from blush pink to gold depending on the tide. The Pesona Bajo Phinisi doesn’t shout. It simply belongs.
