Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Nara Sea Phinisi. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

We’d debated between Bali and Komodo for our honeymoon—glad we chose the latter. The Nara Sea Phinisi felt like a private retreat, not a vessel. Arriving after a bumpy local flight, the crew had cold towels and lemongrass spray waiting. Our cabin, forward starboard, had twin portholes that framed passing waves like living art. Days unfolded without urgency: a quiet paddle at Nusa Kode, a sunrise hike on Gili Lawa, then floating in that impossible blue. One afternoon, we anchored near Kalong Island and watched the bat exodus at dusk—thousands pouring from the mangroves like smoke. The chef learned my husband prefers no onion and adjusted each dish accordingly. That kind of attention speaks volumes. Wi-Fi was weak, but honestly, we didn’t miss it. If anything, I wish we’d booked two more nights. Some silences are worth extending.

The Nara Sea Phinisi offered a quiet kind of luxury—unobtrusive, precise, and deeply attuned to the rhythm of the sea. We chose this voyage for our milestone 20th anniversary, and the crew honoured that without fanfare, simply by getting every detail right. Waking at anchor near Kalong Island, the sky bruised with dusk, bats swirling like embers above the mangroves—there was something ancient in that moment. Later, at Gili Lawa Darat, we hiked the ridge at sunrise, then swam in the current where the reef pulses with parrotfish and clams the size of palms. The cabin was understated but impeccable—teak finishes, linen that held its cool, and a shower with actual pressure, which I mention because so few yachts manage that. If there’s a quibble, it’s that the Wi-Fi existed in theory only; not a true complaint, more a note for those who insist on tethering. The kitchen, though—consistently brilliant. Seared tuna with tamarind glaze one night, then a Balinese lawar the next. You felt cared for, never performed for. That balance is rare.

Traveled alone, joining a small group charter aboard the Nara Sea Phinisi—initially hesitant, but the balance of social and private space was well judged. The yacht’s 24.84 metres feel spacious without being vast. I spent hours on the upper deck with a book, only disturbed by the occasional call from the crew offering tea or pointing out a dorsal fin. Highlights: swimming at Manta Point, where the ocean feels electric, and the stillness of Batu Bolong at low tide, when the reef emerges like a fossil bed. The crew, led by a captain with 20 years in the park, knew tides like poetry. One evening, anchored off Nusa Kode, we had a barbecue on the beach—simple, unpretentious, and one of the best meals. My one suggestion? A better Bluetooth speaker on deck for evening music. Otherwise, impeccable. You feel the care in the small things—the soap is local, the towels thick, the pillows down-filled.
