Where Luxury Meets the Wild
I joined Derya Liveaboard with a group of friends celebrating a joint milestone—three 40ths in one week. The boat’s 22-meter frame held us all with room to breathe. I had the Master Suite, and the sliding glass door to the aft deck became my morning ritual: coffee, salt air, and the occasional monitor lizard sunning on Pink Beach’s shore. We hiked Padar midweek, then spent the next day diving Taka Makassar’s blue edge—strong current, but the guides managed entries flawlessly. The galley was inventive: one night, a betel-leaf-wrapped sea bass that tasted of smoke and lime. The only thing I’d suggest? A slightly larger tender for beach transfers. But that’s logistical. What mattered was the balance—luxury that didn’t insulate us from the raw beauty of Komodo. On our last night, anchored near Loh Liang, we swam under the stars. That’s the memory I’ll keep.

Fukuokaから遠く離れたこの旅で、Derya Liveaboardはまさにperfectな拠点でした。Rinca Islandでの野生のコモドドラゴン観察後、Gili Lawaの夕焼けは心に残るdrone shotのチャンスをくれました。私はphotography expeditionとして参加し、船のデッキから星空までカバーできました。Master Suiteのベッドサイドにある電源ポートが充実していたのは助かりました。ただ、wifiは少しspottyで、データ整理の際に少々不便を感じました。しかし、船員の接客は控えめでありながら的確で、特に朝食のnasi gorengは毎日期待以上でした。4日間というスケジュールは短く感じましたが、それが逆に心に余韻を残しました。

Como mergulhadora experiente, escolhi o Derya Liveaboard para um dive group de cinco amigas. A estrutura técnica é impecável: tanques duplos disponíveis, suporte para camera gear e briefing detalhado com mapas digitais. Castle Rock foi desafiador — correnteza forte, mas repleto de barracudas e tubarões-cinzentos. Em Batu Bolong, o drop-off é espetacular, quase um wall dive de sonho. A embarcação é nova (2018), e isso se nota: tudo funciona, desde a bomba de lastro até o sistema de água salgada. A Standard Cabin é compacta, mas funcional — ótima para quem passa o dia no mar. O capitão alterou o itinerary para incluir um segundo passeio em Kalong Island, onde vimos os morcegos voando ao crepúsculo — um momento mágico. Só lamento não termos ficado mais um dia. O chef domina seafood: lulas grelhadas com toque de limão kaffir foram memoráveis. Serviço discreto, mas atento. Perfeito.

Como fotógrafo de viagem, avaliei o Derya Liveaboard não só pelo conforto, mas pela estética. O design phinisi tradicional é respeitado, mas com toques modernos — como tomadas USB e ar-condicionado silencioso. Viajei com amigos para um milestone birthday — meu irmão fez 45 — e o barco entregou um equilíbrio raro entre aventura e luxo. Paramos em Sebayur Island e Batu Bolong, onde fizemos mergulhos profundos e caminhadas. A Standard Cabin é compacta, mas bem ventilada. O capitão permitiu que eu usasse o drone dele para um shot aéreo épico de Kanawa Island. O jantar de aniversário teve música ao vivo com violão e pratos fusion. Só gostaria que houvesse mais opções veganas. Mesmo assim, o overall vibe foi autêntico e sofisticado. Um verdadeiro floating boutique hotel.

I’ve been on several phinisi yachts, but Derya Liveaboard sets a new benchmark. The 2018 build shows in the details—the varnished decks still flawless, the galley’s induction stovetop precise. Our photography group needed early access to Padar Island to capture the morning light, and the captain adjusted course overnight to position us perfectly. The resulting images—soft gradients over the three bays—are among my best. At Castle Rock, the dive master timed our descent with the tidal push, revealing mantas in motion. The Master Suite’s reading nook, with a view of the wake, became my sanctuary. The only critique: the tender ride to Rinca can be choppy at certain tides. Still, the crew’s seamanship made even transfers feel considered. This is luxury not as excess, but as attention.

Corporate Retreat That Actually Recharged Us
Saya bawa tim dari kantor — 8 orang — untuk corporate retreat lewat Derya Liveaboard. Awalnya skeptis bisa fokus kerja di kapal, tapi ternyata balance-nya perfect. Pagi meeting di dek atas sambil minum kopi, view-nya langsung ke Gili Lawa. Lalu siangnya team bonding di Manjarite, snorkeling bareng, dan malamnya crew setting up a private BBQ session with local spiced tuna. Kabin Standard Cabin simple tapi well-maintained, AC-nya stabil meski cuaca panas. Satu hal: water pressure di kamar mandi agak rendah, tapi honestly, who cares when you’re floating in Komodo waters all day? Derya punya crew yang intuitive — they anticipate your needs without being intrusive. Kita bahkan sempat turun dadakan ke Loh Liang buat short hike karena salah satu staff tahu kami interested in komodo behavior. Leadership trip ini malah jadi therapeutic.

Choosing the Derya Liveaboard for our honeymoon was an act of quiet confidence—and it paid off. The boat’s 22-meter frame glides without fuss, and the four cabins ensure privacy even with a full group. We spent an afternoon snorkeling at Castle Rock, where the current brought schools of fusiliers in shimmering waves. Later, anchored at Long Beach, the crew arranged a private candlelit dinner on the sand—local prawns, grilled pineapple, and a bottle of Sancerre chilled in a seawater bucket. The Master Suite’s brass fixtures and hand-laid tiles felt both nautical and luxurious. On Padar Island, the hike revealed that iconic tri-bay vista, and the descent was timed perfectly with sunset cocktails on deck. The only note: the Wi-Fi signal vanished entirely after leaving Taka Makassar, but we didn’t miss it. This was disconnection, done well.
