Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Kaia Explorer. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Finally, a real escape from Jakarta chaos! Kaia Explorer gave us the ultimate friends getaway—just what we needed after two years of back-to-back WFH. Taka Makassar was our highlight: pasirnya white like powder, dan airnya biru toska yang bikin nggak mau keluar. Snorkeling di sana, we saw turtles and reef sharks, so epic! The boat’s design? Soothing minimalism with teak wood details—very aesthetic for our Instagram stories. Crewnya friendly banget, selalu offering fresh coconut or iced lemongrass tea. One small thing: the Wi-Fi was almost nonexistent, tapi honestly, that’s a good thing for digital detox. We played cards, stargazed at Kalong Island, and just talked. The shared cabin was spacious with good ventilation. Makanan served every 3 hours—love that! For a group of four, this is the perfect size. Can’t wait to book again, maybe for a wellness retreat next time.

Humne Kaia Explorer ko ek photography expedition ke liye chuna tha, aur ye bilkul perfect raha. Humare saath do aur couples the, sabhi nature lovers, aur 8.84 metre ke is sleek phinisi ne humein Komodo ke hidden gems jaise Batu Bolong aur Crystal Rock tak le jaane mein bilkul bhi compromise nahi kiya. Dive group ke taur par humne morning dive Kalong Island ke paas kiya—sunrise ke saath mangrove ke beech se nikalte hue bats ka drone shot capture karna ek surreal experience tha. Kaia Explorer ki do master suites bahut spacious thi, aur suiting diving gear ke saath storage ka bhi khayal tha—jo ek photographer ke liye bahut helpful tha. Breakfast par local seafood ke saath avocado toast, aur shaam ko Gili Lawa ke beach par curated wine pairing—sab kuch socha hua, lekin overdone nahi. Ek chhoti si baat—boat par wifi thoda inconsistent tha, jo shayad avoid karne ki koshish mein bhi connectivity ke liye thoda frustrating ho sakta hai. Lekin yeh bhi ek reminder tha ki hum truly off-grid the. Skip Taka Makassar next time, kyunki waha current thoda strong tha for casual snorkeling. Overall, itinerary thoda flexible tha, jo humare group ke creative needs ke liye ideal raha.

Sebagai avid snorkeler, gue cukup skeptis sama trip standar. Tapi Kaia Explorer surprised me. The guide actually knows the spot like his backyard, langsung tunjukin where the pygmy seahorse biasanya nongol. Komodo Island itself wild and raw, we saw dragons from a safe distance, tapi yang bikin gue jatuh cinta justru Taka Makassar. But overall, this is a solid, no-frills luxury boat with serious dive game.

Sailing the Kaia Explorer felt less like a charter and more like being entrusted with a well-kept secret. As a honeymooner who’s seen a fair share of overhyped escapes, I was struck by how effortlessly this 28-meter phinisi balanced elegance with authenticity. The teak decks warmed beneath bare feet each morning as we glided toward Bidadari Beach—where the water shifts from sapphire to emerald in the span of a single breath. Snorkeling at Crystal Rock revealed reefs alive with parrotfish and reef sharks, a moment our guide made even more memorable with his quiet reverence for the ecosystem. The cabin, though compact, was masterfully designed—linen drapes, ambient lighting, and storage that anticipated every need. My only note? The shower drainage slowed on day three, but the crew resolved it before sunset. Dining was a revelation: ceviche at dusk, flame-grilled mahi-mahi under the stars. For couples craving intimacy without sacrificing refinement, Kaia delivers in ways larger yachts simply can’t.

Genau richtig.

Our 10th anniversary on Kaia Explorer was pure romance. Komodo Island hike was adventurous, but coming back to Kaia with a private candlelit dinner on deck? Unreal. The crew decorated everything with petals and fairy lights—very thoughtful. We watched the stars from the bow, wrapped in blankets, sipping local coffee. The cabin was intimate and clean, with soft linens and a view of the sea from bed. Manta Point was breathtaking, literally—I cried when the first manta glided past me. Food was consistently delicious; I still dream about that seafood curry. Minor note: the upper deck seating gets hot in midday sun, but they provided parasols. What made it special was the personal touch—crew remembered our names and drink preferences. This wasn’t a trip, it was a memory. Already told my wife: every big anniversary, we do this.

Five years of marriage celebrated on Kaia Explorer—what a way to mark it! We started with a romantic hike on Rinca Island, then cooled off with snorkeling at Gili Lawa Darat. Saw a manta at the edge of the reef—so graceful, felt like a blessing. The crew arranged a private dinner on deck: candlelight, local wine, and grilled tuna with chili-lime sauce—chef’s kiss! Our cabin was intimate with soft lighting and a window facing the sea. Waking up to sunrise every day was priceless. Minor note: the shower drain clogged once, tapi fixed in minutes. What stood out? The personal care—crew called us 'Pak dan Bu Cinta' as a joke, made us laugh daily. They even took a photo book of our trip. This wasn’t just a holiday, it was love recharged. Next stop: Maldives? No—back to Kaia for year six!

Anniversary trip with Kaia Explorer turned out so intimate dan meaningful. The silence there, hanya broken by waves, bikin kita reconnect beneran. Crew tidak intrusive, tapi selalu ada saat dibutuhkan — one evening they arranged a private dinner di dek atas, dengan linen, candlelight, dan playlist custom. We swam at Crystal Rock barefoot, dan the water so clear rasanya seperti flying. But honestly, that’s nitpicking. The wooden deck, the smell of teak, the slow pace — semua bikin anniversary ini terasa slow dan luxurious.
