Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Kaia Explorer. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

Four guys, one mission: disconnect and explore. Kaia Explorer was our floating HQ for four epic days. Gili Lawa Laut was insane—snorkeling with turtles and reef fish like we were in an aquarium. We even tried night fishing with the crew, caught our own dinner—grilled barracuda, so fresh! Komodo Island trek was tough but worth it, saw two dragons chilling under a tree. The boat’s layout is smart: two cabins but feels private, and the shared lounge area is perfect for banter and beers. Crew was fun and professional—always cracking jokes but never slacking. One note: the lower cabin gets a bit stuffy at noon, but fan helped. They also didn’t have extra towels on Day 1, tapi sorted quickly. Food was generous and flavorful—lots of chili for us spice lovers. Would 100% recommend for friend trips. Already planning next year: Raja Ampat, maybe?

Our anniversary aboard Kaia Explorer was nothing short of cinematic. We began at Rinca, where Komodo dragons prowled like ancient sentinels, then sailed to Bidadari Beach—its three coves a palette of blues I’ve never seen. The crew arranged a private beach picnic, complete with chilled rosé and grilled lobster. The yacht’s design favors elegance over excess: think linen couches, hand-carved wood, and a galley turning out delicate renditions of nasi goreng. My only note? The master cabin’s reading light was dim, but the starlit nights made it irrelevant. Falling asleep to the hull’s soft knock against the water, I felt utterly reset. For couples seeking depth over dazzle, Kaia is a quiet masterpiece.

We joined Kaia Explorer for a dive-focused trip with six couples. The boat’s modest length—8.84 meters—belied its capability. At Manta Point, the crew managed entries with precision, avoiding congestion. We had two guides, both PADI-certified and deeply familiar with local patterns. One dive, we drifted along a wall at Gili Lawa, surrounded by fusiliers and reef sharks. The boat’s tanks were consistently filled, gear well-maintained. Above deck, meals were served family-style: grilled mahi, mango salad, coconut sago. Nothing fussy, but everything fresh. The cabins, while not spacious, felt private—thick curtains, good airflow. One evening, anchored near Pink Beach, we swam ashore and walked the curve of sand as the light faded. My only note? The shower drain occasionally backed up—likely due to sand. But it was cleared promptly. Kaia doesn’t chase luxury. It offers authenticity, and in Komodo, that’s rare.
