Explore the magical islands you will visit aboard Mata Komodo Boat. Each stop offers a unique adventure from pink beaches to dragon encounters.
KELOR ISLAND
Ancient sailors called it "The Guardian." Dutch colonials built watchtowers on its crown. Local legend says it's a giant sea turtle turned to stone. A 20-minute climb rewards you with 360° views of dragon territories. The coral gardens below hide patrolling sea turtles in crystal shallows.
MANJERITE
Every sunset, tens of thousands of flying foxes launch from mangroves, creating a black river across orange skies. Ancient sea nomads believed these bats carried souls to the afterlife. Watch from your deck at 17:30. The sky will erupt. You'll forget to breathe.
PADAR ISLAND
Three crescent bays—turquoise, cobalt, jade—curve around dragon-spine ridges. Legend says a dragon princess died here protecting her brothers. Her body became the ridgeline. Her tears became three seas. The 30-minute climb is ruthless, but every explorer says: "I can die now."
PINK BEACH
One of only seven pink beaches on Earth. Microscopic red coral creates a rose-gold blush. Sailors once feared it was cursed by dragon blood. The reef drops from knee-deep to 50 meters—turtles, reef sharks, and octopi patrol waters so clear you'll think you're dreaming.
KOMODO ISLAND
Ground zero. The throne. Komodo dragons—largest lizards on Earth, unchanged for 4 million years. They sprint 20 km/h, kill with venom-laced bites. Trek with armed rangers. Watch them sun like kings. Feel evolution stare back. This isn't a zoo. It's their Kingdom
TAKA MAKASSAR
A sandbar that emerges at low tide, then disappears beneath waves. Sea nomads called it "Ghost Island"—a resting place for ocean spirits. Stand in the middle of the ocean with ankle-deep water. Snorkel where the island vanishes. Your private Maldives, but only for 2 hours.
MANTA POINT
A submerged pinnacle where currents collide, creating a cleaning station for manta rays with 7-meter wingspans. Divers call them "Royal Stingrays"—reincarnated ocean kings. The taboo: look, never touch. Watch them barrel-roll beneath you. Swimming with mantas IS your bucket list.
GILI LAWA
Twin islands—Lawa Darat and Lawa Laut—frame the golden highway between sky and sea. Ancient traders navigated by these peaks. At sunrise, watch the world ignite from savannah ridges. At sunset, the sky bleeds into three shades of fire. The 30-minute trek is steep, but the 360° view makes kings jealous.
SLABA ISLAND
Slaba rises like a fortress from deep blue—a volcanic dome crowned with savannah where white-bellied sea eagles hunt. Bajo fishermen call it "Pulau Rajawali" (Eagle Island), believing the birds are guardians of hidden treasures below. Dive the walls where currents deliver big fish, sharks, and swirling barracuda. Above: eagles. Below: an underwater avalanche of life.
SEBAYUR ISLAND
Sebayur guards one of Komodo's best-kept secrets: untouched coral gardens teeming with life. While others chase dragons, divers chase legends here—pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefishes, and macro critters hiding in soft coral forests. The bay is a natural aquarium. The hillside trek offers sunrise views without the Padar crowds.
KANAWA ISLAND
While crowds chase Pink Beach, explorers slip to Kanawa—pristine coral reefs, zero crowds. Fishermen once avoided it, believing the Sea Goddess protected these waters. The reef here is 80% live coral. Turtles nest on beaches. Blacktip sharks patrol shallows. This is the Komodo nobody talks about.
SABOLO ISLAND (RANGKO CAVE)
Hidden in Sabolo's limestone cliffs lies Rangko Cave—a saltwater cavern illuminated by a ceiling skylight. Sunbeams pierce the darkness, turning water neon blue. Local legend says bathing here grants courage to face dragons. Swim through the entrance tunnel. Surface inside the cathedral. Float in liquid sapphire while light dances on ancient rock.
BIDADARI ISLAND
Bidadari" means angel in Indonesian. One glance explains why. Powdery white sand. Turquoise shallows. Zero crowds. Fishermen say angels rest here between monsoons, leaving footprints in the sand that waves erase by dawn. Snorkel the fringing reef where baby blacktips patrol. This is your castaway fantasy—pristine, peaceful, perfect.

As a marine biologist, I’m picky about dive logistics — and the Mata Komodo Boat delivered. Compact, yes, but every inch functional. Our dive master knew the tides around Padar like a poet knows meter. We timed our descent as the current swept us along a wall dense with anthias and fusiliers. Later, a night snorkel near Kalong revealed bioluminescent trails in the wake. The boat doesn’t have nitrox, which we’d have appreciated after back-to-back deeps, but the surface intervals were so well-paced — cold towels, cucumber water — that fatigue never set in. Returning to the boat at sunset, anchored off Nusa Kode, felt like returning to a floating sanctuary. No frills, just integrity.

Joining a small mindfulness retreat aboard Mata Komodo Boat, I expected beauty—but not the depth of peace I found. Anchored near Kalong Island, we practiced silent observation as thousands of bats streamed into the twilight, a living river against the sky. Our mornings began with seated meditation on the foredeck, followed by light meals of mango chia pudding and herbal tea. A snorkel at Kanawa Island felt like floating through a dream—coral bommies, blue tangs, and the occasional turtle gliding past. The boat’s natural wood finishes and open layout fostered a sense of grounded presence. The only slight limitation: limited charging ports in cabins, requiring coordination. Yet, this gently encouraged digital disconnection. For those seeking stillness within wildness, this vessel is a rare vessel indeed—both literally and spiritually.

We brought our startup team of 6 on Mata Komodo Boat for a 5D4N retreat—no Zoom, no Slack, just real conversation. Berangkat dari Labuan Bajo, langsung menuju Komodo Island untuk tracking the dragons. The ranger guide was very knowledgeable, almost like a National Geographic narrator. Next time, maybe add diving session di Crystal Rock—our CTO is a certified diver.

We brought our three children — 6, 9, and 12 — on what I feared might be chaos. Instead, the Mata Komodo Boat became their classroom. The crew taught them to spot turtle tracks on Pink Beach, and one morning, we watched dolphins from the bow as we approached Nusa Kode. The boat’s layout kept shared spaces open but not noisy, and the kids loved sleeping with cabin doors open to the sea breeze. The galley served balanced meals — always a protein, veg, and rice — and even accommodated my daughter’s nut allergy without fuss. My only note: more shaded play space would help on hotter days. But then again, when your afternoon ends with a jump from the deck into crystal water, shade feels overrated.

Deniz rengi, tonu, her şey frame’i tamamlıyordu.

Our dive group of 6 booked Mata Komodo Boat for a 4D trip focused on diving, dan we were not disappointed. Komodo Island dan Rinca Island offered some of the most dynamic dives I’ve had in Indonesia. Strong currents, walls, dan macro life everywhere—saw pygmy seahorse di Komodo Wall! The boat has a dedicated dive deck, dan dive master-nya sangat experienced, ngerti betul kondisi lokal. Makanan served buffet style tapi variasi-nya konsisten, with fresh seafood every other day. Would 100% book again for a deeper dive itinerary.
